The Dragons are pleased to announce the appointment of a familiar face in Paul Sherwood as A-grade coach for season 2020. Paul previously coached the side for 3 years including the back to back 2013 and 2014 flags that propelled the club to Division 4. Since leaving the Dragons Paul has coached Angaston and most recently was an assistant coach for the 2019 SANFL Premiers Glenelg. Paul’s experience as a player includes 190 games for the Bays, he has a great knowledge of the game and one of his strengths is building strong relationships with players. It says a lot for the culture of a footy club when it can help people to take the next step to bigger challenges, it says twice as much when a person of these credentials is excited to return.
Please join us in congratulating Paul and welcoming Vanessa, Ashton and Saskia back to the Dragon family. Welcome back Bob!
Press Release from the SANFL website -
Mark Stone’s right-hand man at Glenelg in 2019, former 190-game Tigers defender Paul Sherwood, is returning to community football.
“Yes, I’m taking on the Westminster Old Collegians side coaching role, which has consolidated in Division three in the last couple of years,” Sherwood said.
“I’ve coached them previously from 2013 to ‘15 we had flags in Division Six and Five level in the first two of those years.
“It was great to be involved as an assistant to Mark and I’d like to implement a lot what I’ve learnt from my time with him this year.
“We have also good communication and links with the Westminster School and have recruited former West Adelaide premiership player Aaron Fielke, along with Jason and Brad Eagle for 2020.
