“The Golden Dragons were formed in 2016 & have had seven very successful years now with 25 members, creating
a solid financial platform from which the club has been able
to build upon each year.”

“The stability of the Dragons both on & off the field is in part stimulated by the visible support of the Golden Dragons, appreciated by both players & administration alike.”

Neil Williams, Golden Dragons Founder

The Golden Dragons were formed in 2016 with approximately 20 members each year, creating a solid financial platform from which the club has greatly benefited from and helps get some of those year on year costs that take up so much time, out of the way, so the admin and players can concentrate on what they do best..

Entertain us with great footy!!!

We have had some successful years of consolidation in Div 3, in a very tough competition and I know that despite in 2024 we are back in Div 4, the club has been working hard preseason, with getting back to Div 3 firmly in their sights with some exciting new players and the return of some past players joining our boys, so let’s do all we can to support them in their quest.

The Golden Dragons as a group have now had seven annual lunches, first year with the fabulous Jane Woodlands-Thompson, one of the best High Performance sports administrators in the country and then at Chianti with Di Wallace-Ward possibly the most highly decorated athlete in SA, followed by Greg Oddy, Australian Captain and the nation’s most highly awarded Ice Hockey Player, 2019 we were taken down the path of the footy life of Shippy who threw us a curve ball by getting his old mate Sheeds to crash our dinner, what a fabulous day that was and we follow that with the Godra, Tony Modra who shared some of his on field antics and normally unheard player sledging and last year, with Old Scholar, lawyer, magistrate and judge, Kelvyn Prescott OAM for an informative insight into the State’s Justice system.

The stability of the Dragons both on and off the field is in part stimulated by the visible support of the Golden Dragons, appreciated by both players and administration alike.

In addition all Golden Dragons are guests of the club at all official functions including the Presidents Lunch and The Greenlow (best and fairest awards night).

This year as previous we will have a continued visible presence not only around the club and at games (crucial) but also at the school in support of the Senior school Footy program which we are fostering with the long term objective of the Dragons being their Club of choice when they leave school.

It is proposed that the Golden Dragons will have high profile at both the school’s 2024 footy launch and at their intercollegiate match against Pembroke, which is always a good day out.

We will be showing our support as the premier Old Scholars sporting club to the players and parents of the students.

To assist in the long term stability of the Golden Dragons well known premiership player and club stalwart Josh Starling and well established Dragons benefactor Russell Ellis have joined founder Neil Williams in administering the Golden Dragons as we move forward.

We thank all past and present Golden Dragons
